Your estate plan doesn't need to have a shock factor

The need to have an estate plan ready isn't limited only to very wealthy people who have children and a spouse. Instead, any adult can benefit from one of these plans. When you are ready to create an estate plan, you need to think about a number of points. We will be by your side to make sure that you are getting everything in order.

The cornerstone of the estate plan is the will. This document is one that is featured in movies and television shows a lot. Usually, there is a great shock that comes when the will is read. In reality, this might not be how it happens.

Many people who create estate plans let their loved ones know what the plan contains. This gives loved ones time to ask questions and get clarifications while you are still alive, which can take the guesswork out of things when you are gone.

Trusts work with the will to get assets where they need to go. The assets that are held in trust don't need to be included in the will. You also need to make sure that you don't put assets that have a payable on death designation in the will. These, which are usually financial accounts, are governed by the designation. That means that placing them in the will is a waste of time.

You also need to think about your final days and get a power of attorney and living will set up. These are important, because they convey your wishes for a time when you are still alive but can't speak up for yourself.

We realize this is a lot to deal with, but we will help you every step of the way. We want you to rest assured that your loved ones will know what you want when you pass away.
